Youths left behind in orphanages in Russia
I think your effort to reunite abandoned Russian children with birth families and provide foster care for Russian children is well intentioned and needed. But, do you have a program for the youths that are left behind and do not get into foster care or group homes? Is there a program to help these young 16 year olds transition into the world of work with some kind of job skill and not end up homeless in the street?
Answer:
At the moment EveryChild-Saint Petersburg does not operate any project of such kind. Nevertheless, governmental half-way centres, family care groups at orphanages, so called social hostels and skill developing services exist and are also operated by partner organizations we work with. There are also non-governmental initiatives. Have a look at some of them http://www.korchakcentr.ru/pages.phtml?menu=2&page=7 http://www.nashe-zavtra.ru/about/ http://www.uspeshnye-siroty.ru/ http://forum.materinstvo.ru/lofiversion/index.php/t739830.html http://www.dvaga.ru http://www.sirotinka.ru/
